Kid Rock is getting lots of backlash over a tweet he sent Friday putting down Taylor Swift.
In it, he accuses Swift of wanting "to be a democrat because she wants to be in movies...period," and goes on to say that "she will suck the door knob off Hollyweird to get there." He calls it the "oldest move in the book" and sarcastically wishes her "good luck."
The tweet came a day after a Vogue magazine interview with Swift came out. In it, she talks about why she's begun to speak out on LGBTQ rights as well as enter entertainment industry sexism and her recent $113,000 donation to the Tennessee Equality Project.
USA Today reports that Chrissy Teigen, Sheryl Crow, Patricia Arquette and Benmont Tench of Tom Petty's Heartbreakes are among those who have condemned Kid Rock's tweets. Country singer Kacey Musgraves, who was at first thought to have "liked" Rock's tweet, issued a statement saying she's been the victim of a "manipulated image" and "would NEVERRR support any message promoting such disgusting misogyny." She said she's been in touch with Swift and that they are "cool."
