The engagement ring was supposed to go on a woman's finger earlier this month while she and her boyfriend were visiting Asheville.
But, unfortunately, it fell out of her boyfriend's pocket at the Biltmore Estate before he could pop the question.
The couple arrived at Biltmore a little after 3 p.m. Jan. 7. While on the bus to the house, he showed the ring (in a red box) to his girlfriend's bestfriend.
"We then walked to the right, where the shops are, to use the restrooms, and then we walked straight into the Biltmore House," the girlfriend said. "The ring was lost somewhere along the way or in the house on the main floor. We had literally been there for 20 minutes before he realized it was gone."
The couple from Rock Hill, South Carolina, has campaigned on social media, begging anyone who may have found the ring to return it. It's been shared hundreds of times. And they filed a report through the estate's police. But the ring hasn't turned up.
"My boyfriend, who was in the Marines and has been deployed twice to Afghanistan, is now a welder," she said. "He worked so hard to give me my dream ring. Blood, sweat and tears went into that ring!"
