Amy hosted a baby shower for Bobby's wife Caitlin!
Bobby arrived toward the end of the event, following what he described as the usual rule that the dad shows up later. When he arrived, everyone was already seated at a long table, and dinner had just finished. The baby shower was planned as a dinner rather than a traditional shower. One table was Amy's dining room table, and an additional table was rented to connect to it so everyone could sit together. Benches were also rented to make sure there was enough seating. There was a chef, along with other hosts who helped organize the evening.
After dinner, a few baby shower games were played. Bobby joined in for the games after arriving. One of the games involved guessing whether certain baby-related tasks would be done more by the mom or the dad. Another game involved passing a prize based on prompts, such as who had the most kids or the youngest child, until one person ended up with the gift. One activity included setting out diapers and markers so guests could write notes on the diapers for late-night diaper changes. The notes ranged from encouragement to jokes. Another part of the shower involved Polaroid cameras placed around the space so guests could take photos throughout the night. The photos were intended to be collected at the end as keepsakes, though some of the photos were later missing.
Instead of traditional gifts, guests were asked to bring a children’s book and write a note inside for the baby. Bobby spent part of the time helping with the event by taking items to the car and participating in activities. Although he felt he was only there briefly, Amy felt he stayed longer and was actively involved. According to his wife, the shower went very well, and she was excited afterward.
