Silver-Line Park Grand Opening Celebration

I was born and raised in Woodfin and my dad, Ronnie Lunsford, is also a current Woodfin Town Commissioner; so it was great to spend Thursday evening supporting a community that means a lot to me at the Silver-Line Park grand opening celebration! There were free t-shirts and hats, Dickie's donated yummy hot dogs to the event, and Pelican's provided some of their world famous SnoBalls!

Special thanks were given to the Silver Family and former Town Administrator Jason Young. A plaque was revealed dedicating the park's Pirate Ship Playground to Jason Young. Town Manager Shannon Tuch also thanked the community partners, past town board members, Buncombe County Parks & Recreation Services, RiverLink, Buncombe County TDA, Buncombe County, and the taxpayers of Woodfin. Mayor Jerry VeHaun spoke and performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The new park provides a variety of recreational opportunities and amenities. There is boat ramp access to the French Broad River, picnic shelters with grills, a playground, greenway and walking trails, and a connection to the Craggy Mountain Rail Line. Silver-Line Park is part of the Woodfin Greenway & Blueway project that will include the much anticipated in-stream Whitewater Wave.

The turnout was wonderful and we want to give a huge thank you to the Town of Woodfin for such a wonderful event!
