Thanksgiving is a time where people gather with loved ones to celebrate the season and reflect on their gratitude. However, some people may be kept from visiting family for the holiday or simply prefer to spend time with friends instead, leading to the rise in popularity of "Friendsgiving." For some marines in North Carolina, their "Friendsgiving" this year will include two very special guests: President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden.
On Wednesday (November 16), the White House announced that the Bidens will head to Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point on Monday (November 21) days before Thanksgiving for a celebration with service members and military families as part of the White House's Joining Forces initiative, per WCNC.
While not much else is known about the President and First Lady's visit as of time of publishing, the Tar Heel State does have another official connection to the White House this Thanksgiving. Following presidential tradition, Biden is expected to pardon two turkeys ahead of the holiday. This year's turkeys come from Circle S Ranch in Monroe where they were raised by National Turkey Federation chairman Ronnie Parker, WCNC reports. Their official names have not been announced, but past years' pairings include Mac and Cheese as well as Peanut Butter and Jelly.
