A sheriff’s deputy has been killed after an incident on Interstate 85 in Greenville County on Tuesday afternoon.
The exact sequence of events is still unclear and preliminary, according to the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.
Officials report a deputy initiated a traffic stop on I-85 near White Horse Road just before 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20. One person from a vehicle began fighting with deputies. The vehicle accelerated, then collided with a semi-truck. Another deputy’s patrol car also collided with the suspect’s vehicle.
