The first flu-related death of North Carolina’s 2020-21 flu season was reported Thursday, Oct. 15 by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services’ Division of Public Health.

The death involved an adult over the age of 65 residing in the central part of the state. To protect the privacy of the family, the person's hometown, county, age and gender will not be released.
