Smoky Mountain Toy Run set for drive-thru event on Nov. 7

The 40th annual Smoky Mountain Toy Run will be happening this year, but it will look a bit different because of COVID-19. This year's event will be in drive-thru form.

Organizers said they're looking for any kind of new toys or school supplies. And, if you don't know what kind of toy to buy, you can always make a donation.

Clif Dodson, who's on the board of directors, said this year's event may be more important than ever.

"This year is different, certainly, and maybe even more important that as a community we take care of our kids. There are a lot of hurting families out there right now. We just cannot let a kid wake up on Christmas morning to nothing. This is a great time to support our neighbors," Dodson said.

The toy run will be 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, in the Kearfott parking lot in Swannanoa.
