Halloween on Vermont Avenue is off.
That's the recent, unfortunate news out of West Asheville. Organizers say it just canât happen because of the pandemic.
"Itâs huge and itâs incessant and itâs wonderful, itâs glorious, but it canât be done," said Donna Nelson, who lives on Vermont Avenue.
Those who put on the popular event are now trying to get word out because theyâre worried people will still show up.
They say this year is just not safe for large crowds.
The event usually draws thousands of people to Vermont Avenue for trick-or-treating. Unlike years past, this year there will be no road blocks and no police.
