Child Kidnap Victim Found Safe Wondering The Streets Of Greensboro

(Greensboro, NC) -- A three-year-old Greensboro girl, who was abducted from an apartment complex playground Wednesday, has been found alive and safe. Police say they received a call on a tip line that a small child was seen walking by herself in front of a church on Dillard Street around 8:18 pm. Officers immediately responded to the location and confirmed that the toddler was the child described in a statewide Amber Alert, Ahlora Lindiment. After being examined at a nearby hospital, she was reunited with her family around 10:00 pm. The search for the kidnapper continues.

Criminal Theft Gang Launch Series Of Car Break-Ins In Cary

(Cary, NC) -- The so-called "Felony Lane Gang" has apparently struck again. Police in Cary report a series of recent car break-ins in which thieves stole credit cards and made charges on them a short time later. Investigators say the traveling band of criminals have hit several cities throughout the Southeast over the last several months. Their favorite M.O. is to target cars in parking lots of malls and businesses. Law enforcement is urging drivers to always lock their cars and not to leave valuables inside.

Medicaid Recipients Will See New Changes In Payment Plan

(Raleigh, NC) -- Open enrollment for North Carolina Medicaid recipients begins Monday, October 14th. Those covered under the plan will notice some major differences, mainly in the out of pocket cost patients will have to pay going forward. State officials say whereas in the past, Medicaid was a "Fee For Service," the new system will be a private insurance "Managed Care" plan. What this essentially means is that the state will pay a "Flat Fee" for patients, regardless of how many times they visit a doctor.

Current Legislative Session Could End With No Budget Passed

(Raleigh, NC) -- The President Pro-Tem of the North Carolina Senate says it is now possible that this session of the state legislature could end without a general fund budget being passed. Republican Phil Berger of Rockingham said Thursday, that the more than a dozen mini-budgets that have already passed, combined with current spending, may be close to the proposed 24-billion dollar budget Democrats and Republicans are gridlocked over.

Family Calls For Students Guilty Of Posting Racist Chats To Be Punished

(Wake County, NC) -- The family of an East Wake High school freshman is calling on school officials in Wake County to dole out stiff punishment to some of its students, after racist comments in a chat room were exposed. Fourteen-year-old Cenayia Pope Edwards told officials that she posed as a white student in order to gain access to her classmates online group chat. The chat included racial slurs and threat to kill black people. At a news conference Thursday, the family demanded that the students be punished.

NC-DOT Looking Into Requests To Extend I-77 Toll Lane Project

(Charlotte, NC) -- The contractor who's building toll lanes on I-77, from Charlotte to Mooresville, wants more time to complete the project. The state Department of Transportation is currently looking into requests for additional time. The 647-million-dollar toll lane project is supposed to be done by November 1st, and per the contract, the contractor faces a ten-thousand-dollar fine each day after that.

Teenager Shot Outside Apartment In Fort Mill

(Fort Mill, NC) -- A 16-year-old girl is recovering after a shooting in Fort Mill. It happened late Wednesday night outside of an apartment complex on Forest Ridge Drive, just off of Highway 21. Police say several people were gathered outside when someone walked up and opened fire. Police believe the shooter is a juvenile who knows the victim. An investigation is ongoing.

Man Crashes Drone Into Charlotte Bank Building, Damages It

(Charlotte, NC) -- Charlotte police are looking for a man who crashed his drone into a Bank of America, damaging the building. It happened Wednesday evening on South Tryon Street in uptown Charlotte. Police are looking for a white male who was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt, khaki cargo shorts, white socks and black boots. He's wanted on charges of reckless endangerment and damage to property.

Registered Sex Offender Arrested For Peeping In Charlotte

(Charlotte, NC) -- A registered sex offender is under arrest in Charlotte, accused of peeping through a woman's window. Timothy Martin was caught on the victim's surveillance footage peeping into a back window around 2 a.m. on October 4th. He was charged with secret peeping. Police are also looking for a second man who was caught looking into the same woman's home on Von Thuringer Court the next day. He's described as a tall African American man with dreadlocks.

Fort Bragg Soldier Killed After Training Accident

(Fort Bragg, NC) -- A Fort Bragg soldier is dead after a training accident in Idaho. The Fayetteville Observer says Tech. Sergeant Peter Kraines was performing mountain rescue techniques in Boise when he was hurt. He died of his injuries on Tuesday. The accident is under investigation.

Southbound Capital Boulevard Shut Down This Weekend For Construction

(Raleigh, NC) -- State transportation crews are getting to work on Capital Boulevard this weekend. The southbound lanes, from Johnson Street to Lane Street, will be closed until 6 a.m. today and again from 9 p.m. tonight until 6 a.m. on Monday. NC-DOT says the closures are necessary to allow crews to install sanitary sewer lines under the roadway. A detour is in place.

Suspect Arrested After Police Chase Ends in Crash

(Burlington, NC) -- A suspect is in custody after a police chase ended in a crash in Burlington. Alamance County sheriff's deputies were in pursuit of the suspect yesterday for bolting after a routine traffic stop. The runaway driver hit another vehicle head-on at Harden Street and Maple Avenue. No one was seriously hurt. Police say the unidentified suspect was part of a previous investigation.

Two Teenagers Shot, One Killed In High Point

(High Point, NC) -- One teenager is dead and another is in critical condition after a shooting in High Point. It happened Wednesday night near Triangle Lake and Hickory Chapel roads. Police say two people drove by and fired 30 rounds. Seventeen-year-old Kobe Manwarren was killed, and a 15-year-old was critically hurt. Police are looking for a stolen four-door sedan with North Carolina plate number PMH-2915 in connection with the shooting.

Threat Made At Triad High School

(Mayodan, NC) -- Rockingham County sheriff's deputies are giving the "all clear" after a possible threat was made against a local high school. Deputies responded to McMichael High in Mayodan around noon yesterday after students told administrators about the possible threat. A lockdown went into effect, and the "all clear" was given about three hours later. An investigation is ongoing.
