Alabama is postponing the remainder of their â50th Anniversary Tourâ due to the ongoing health concerns of lead singer, Randy Owen.
Owen has been battling ongoing cluster migraines and vertigo, making it incredibly difficult for the 69-year-old to perform.
âThe 50th Anniversary Tour has been very special to us,â band member Teddy Gentry says in a statement. âThe support of the fans and their energy at all of our shows has led to some of the most fun weâve ever had onstage. As disappointed as myself, Randy, and Jeff are to have to postpone this tour for all our incredible fans, we know that Randyâs recovery is what is most important for everyone at this time. We would like to thank our fans, promoters, and venues and we look forward to seeing you all soon.â
Owen isnât the only member of the band who has been dealing with health issues. Earlier this year, Jeff Cook revealed he had been diagnosed with Parkinsonâs disease, and would no longer be able to perform regularly with the band.
âParticularly right now, what Jeffâs going through with Parkinsonâs, I feel very cheated,â Owen shared previously with PopCulture. âIâm sure he does as well. But, all those licks and stuff we created, me and him and Teddy did together, the harmonies that we did. Weâre doing shows, but I feel cheated about that. On the other hand, Iâm very grateful that people still want to hear the music.â
Gentry added, âWe could hire 10 people, but we canât replace Jeff Cook.â
The irreplaceable members of the Country Music Hall of Fame group have postponed all shows since July 18 and the remaining stops of the tour will be moved. Rescheduled dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
