Keith Urban Shares Nostalgic New Song "We Were"

Just coming off of the end of his "Graffiti U World Tour," Keith Urban has already returned with new music. After teasing the song on social media, the country star has officially shared his brand new song "We Were."

"We Were" was written by Ryan Tyndell, Jeff Hyde, and Eric Church and co-produced by Dann Huff and Urban. The song is nostalgic and reflective as Keith sings in the chorus, "I am who I am/ I just miss who I was when/ We Were."

In a press release, Urban explains of the song, "I like the idea that life just happens. At some point, whether in the moment or not, you just gotta go with it.” He adds, "When I first heard 'We Were,' I not only heard it, but I saw it. It made me feel something. The imagery is so strong - a stamp on the back of a hand, a Saturday night cover band, the girlfriend (or boyfriend) we ran with, and a fake ID (which of course I never had). So many of us can relate or will likely relate at some point!"

"We Were" was originally debuted during a showcase performance at the 2019 Country Radio Seminar (CRS) at Nashville's iconic Ryman Auditorium. Urban released his last album, Graffiti U, just last year, and despite a busy touring schedule, he revealed at the beginning of this year that he was already working on new music. Back in February, fans were delighted with the news when he shared a picture of a microphone and a thumbs up from the studio and captioned the image, "New music .....?!!!!!!!!!"

Then, during April's ACMs, he debuted a powerful song called "Burden" (which is a cover of a Foy Vance song). And on April 29th he tweeted another photo of himself singing into a studio microphone with the message, "Nuuuuuuuuuu music comin." And here we are on May 14th with the official release of "We Were."
