"I Am Elizabeth Smart" Film Screening & Discussion

Lenoir-Rhyne University Asheville will be screening the movie "I Am Elizabeth Smart" followed by facilitated conversation. This event is FREE and open to the public. Elizabeth Smart will present "Where There's Hope, There's Healing" (Lenoir-Rhyne University Asheville is an event sponsor) on Thursday, March 8, hosted by WNC Woman at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College.

Elizabeth Smart is an internationally recognized survivor and a leader supporting all people impacted by sexual violence. In 2002, and when she was 14 years old, Elizabeth was abducted from her home in Salt Lake City, Utah and held prisoner for 9 months. Now, she is an outspoken survivor, acclaimed author and advocate for victims and their families. Her Asheville address will focus on hope and healing after trauma. It’s a message that’s especially relevant today, when so many people across the country are speaking up and sharing their stories as survivors. Elizabeth’s journey reminds us all that there is life after assault. That there is hope and healing for those who have been impacted by sexual violence.
