A Henderson County deputy is in the hospital in critical condition and the suspect has been killed following a shootout in the Mountain Home community overnight.
Deputies say at around 2:50 a.m.. a 911 call was made about a vehicle break-in on Bethea Drive off Piney Ridge Drive.
The 911 caller told dispatchers that shots were exchanged between the homeowner and the suspects.
Just after 3 a.m., deputies were able to locate the suspect and the stolen vehicle in the area. Deputies say shots were exchanged between and one deputy was struck and critically injured. Deputies returned fire at the suspect and he was killed. The injured deputy was transported to Mission Hospital in critical condition.
